5/11/2023 0 Comments Daredevil by mark waid volume 1![]() ![]() ![]() This, though, was just a warning to Daredevil from Ikari's master.but WHO IS HIS MASTER? Well, that's a story for another time. Yep, Ikari has Daredevil's powers but is NOT BLIND! The shock of that revelation, and the self-created limiting effects of the sprinklers puts Daredevil at a major disadvantage, and Ikari beats him nearly to death. Things got a bit darker in the run, though, leading to a striking 25th issue in April 2013. ![]() That's what makes it so much more amazing when both Rivera and Martin left the series, and yet Waid somehow got a new artistic collaborator who was just as good as those guys! Chris Samnee took over on art duties, and the series transformed again, as the Waid/Samnee team really "clicked" (along with Rodriguez, who remained on the book to give it a consistent feel to the transition). ![]() So this new run was outstanding, and even won an Eisner (I did an earlier Look Back about the award-winning issue by Waid and Rivera, along with inker Joe Rivera and colorist Javier Rodriguez). The book took a more lighthearted look at the Marvel hero, which was a breath of fresh air considering how DARK the character of Daredevil has gotten over the years. In 2011, Marvel launched a brand-new Daredevil series by writer Mark Waid, with artists Paolo Rivera and Marcos Martin alternating issues of the series. ![]()
